AECOM is seeking a highly talented Sustainability professional for immediate employment in our Roanoke, VA office. AECOM is a premier global architecture, design, and engineering firm operating in over 150 countries, providing fully integrated design, consulting, construction, and management services to a wide range of clients and markets.

AECOM’s Buildings + Places (B+P) business line is dedicated to design excellence and integrated project delivery solutions with expertise including architecture, interiors, engineering, sustainability, workplace strategy, economic planning, master planning, project management, and construction services. Our B+P Roanoke studio provides industry-leading design projects in federal government, healthcare, higher education and corporate markets.

Candidates for this position will demonstrate sustainability experience through past project experience and successful certification processes with various third-party organizations and criteria.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Work under a senior sustainability professional to comply with federal and state high performance and/or sustainable design guidelines for projects.
  • Work under a senior sustainability professional to collaborate and present cutting-edge trends and, sustainability goals to design and construction teams, implement regional initiatives, and consult/coordinate with internal and external teams/consultants/clients.
  • Work under a senior sustainability professional in developing innovative strategies to improve performance goals for sustainability in building and construction and help implement best practices.
  • Work alongside the design teams to track and improve carbon impacts of the projects. Knowledge of LCA One Step is beneficial.
  • Responsible for coordination with project design teams in compliance with USGBC rating system, including LEED v4, v4.1 and v5, and guide projects through associated third-party certification programs.
  • Responsible for coordination with project design teams in compliance with the "Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings" and guide projects through associated third-party certification programs.
  • Ability to work in fast passed work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to assess project plans accurately and efficiently, prepare design and construction specifications based on different sustainable design guidelines/rating systems.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, coordinating directly with other project team members and willingness to support regional teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Due to nature of work/clients US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Federal projects experience preferred.
  • LEED Accredited Professional with specialty preferred. Preferred specialty includes BD+C and ID+C but other specialties will be considered. Additional professional certifications in other providers will also be considered such as Green Globes, WELL and Fitwel.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, coordinating directly with other project team members and willingness to support regional teams.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable design practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, coordinating directly with other project team members and willingness to support regional teams.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD or related 3D building design software.
  • Willingness to travel.
