Job Description

Ryan Companies US, Inc. has an exciting career opportunity for a Sustainability Program Manager to join our National Industrial team!

This individual is responsible for administration and management of sustainability requirements, under supervision, within assigned projects, estimating cost of sustainable options, supporting internal teams in the creation of subcontractor contracts, and project status reports.

Some things you can expect to do:

  • Build trusting relationships with project teams, internal Ryan departments, and clients.

  • Support long-term client partnerships through development and execution of customized, strategic sustainability plans.

  • Create and review bid documents and contract documents for sustainability considerations.

  • Effectively negotiate business and legal provisions of construction contracts as they relate to project sustainability initiatives.

  • Heavy emphasis on training external partners and develop accountability to drive participation in required reporting including embodied carbon and utility tracking.

  • Participate or lead owner/client presentations.

  • Heavy emphasis on training and supporting internal teams in compliance tracking for owner required reporting generated by external partner

  • Collaborate with design teams in the preconstruction phase to identify opportunities to reduce embodied and operational carbon, including but not limited to conducting iterative life cycle costing analyses on alternate products, systems, or design strategies.

  • Simultaneously support multiple high-performance projects (30+) with compliance coordination and documentation for owner specific sustainability programs and established sustainability certifications including LEED, WELL, Green Globes, and other third-party certifications.

  • Develop a deep understanding of low-impact materials, materials sourcing, sustainable materials, and sustainable initiative costs.

  • Generate client reports and program updates for clients’ sustainability goals on both the project and program level.

  • Support Marketing and leverage excellent written and verbal communication skills to tell a project’s sustainability story.

  • Support the development of internal training and resources for metrics comprehension and reporting on areas including but not limited to energy performance, water usage, material properties, construction waste management and diversion, construction indoor air quality, soil and erosion control, operational and embodied carbon.

  • Schedule coordination with multiple teams at any given time for sustainability related reporting.

  • Contract and manage sustainability consultants as required.

  • Active engagement in a professional or community organization.

  • Lead the creation of new tactical documents, training, and process improvements

Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Sustainability, Sustainable Design, or closely related field.

  • 4+ years in the field of construction, development, architecture, or real estate, inclusive of 2+ years of experience in sustainable construction.

  • Good understanding of project management tools including Microsoft Suite, Textura, Procore, BuildingConnected, Bluebeam, etc.

  • General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing and using that knowledge to help teams maximize sustainable solutions.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple clients’ sustainability programs.

  • Able to effectively communicate over the phone, virtually, and in-person with Project Teams, subcontractors and owner/clients.

  • Willingness to travel as needed to execute projects (up to 10%).

  • Have LEED AP, WELL AP, LFA, or have obtained a similar sustainability related accreditation.

Compensation:

The salary range is $95,000 - $125,000. The salary base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
