The Sustainability Coach leads the sorting team and coordinates wastelogisticstomaintainthe arena’s year-round zero-waste status through hands-on operations and real-time data collection. This role ensures safe and efficient waste diversion by directing the sorting process, coordinating hauling schedules, and managing thelogisticsof materials for donation, reuse, andrecycling. By serving as a dedicated, detail-oriented leader on the floor, this position is essential to achieving the arena's environmental goals across all events.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Communication ( 30%)

• Lead teams of 2–20 personnel to complete operational tasks, including sorting, cleaning, weighing, and data collection.

• Communicate clearly with Zero Waste Team Leads and Sorters to ensure departmentalobjectivesand safety protocols are met.

• Transport volunteers, sub-contractors, and other personnel in and out of the arena as needed.

• Provide daily updates to the Hawks’Sustainability Manager

Waste Sorting & Operations Management ( 35%)

• Hand-sort waste daily/nightly,ensuringall materials are properly sorted.

• Ensure all sorting equipment is used correctly and safely.

• Maintain organized storage and prepare donations or valuable waste items for local recyclers and organizations.

• Complete shift checklists for pre-event, event, and post-event tasks.

• Schedule hauls and transport recyclables to vendors to prevent sortingroomoverflow.

Data Management & Reporting ( 15%)

• Collect data andmaintaindatabases including weights, times, costs, hauls, and material types.

• Utilize Hawks’ work order softwarefor reporting equipment malfunctions and tracking operations.

• Conduct audits to ensure compliance and operational efficiency

Logistics & Problem Solving ( 20%)

• Maintain waste infrastructure inventory and manage storage andlogistics

• Prioritize tasks and problem-solve in fast-paced sorting operations to ensure smooth workflow.

• Identifyand implement immediate solutions for equipment staging or material handling challenges tomaintainfacility standards.

Requirements

• Experience managing teams

• Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy equipmentup to 100 lbs.

• Ability toworka non-standard schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Experience and interest in sustainability practices.

• Punctual, reliable, and clearcommunicator

• Positive attitude and consistent motivation to work.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with all departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

• Experience hand-sorting waste or similar materials.

• Prior experience in a zero-waste or recycling-focused environment.

• Familiarity with waste tracking systems or work order software.

• Experienceoperatinga forklift.
