This is an exciting opportunity to build a long‑term technical career in aviation engineering. You’ll be fully trained to maintain and repair survival and aircrew equipment that is essential to the safety of pilots across the Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force.

The role

As a Survival Equipment Technician, you’ll follow a structured training programme combining classroom learning, practical instruction, and on‑the‑job experience. Over time, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge required to inspect, maintain, and repair a wide range of survival and aircrew equipment, working to strict airworthiness and safety standards.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Carrying out maintenance inspections, repairs, and component changes on survival and aircrew equipment
  • Following approved airworthiness, air safety, and quality procedures in a safety‑critical environment
  • Completing documentation accurately to support compliance and traceability
  • Working closely with engineering colleagues, customers, and stakeholders
  • Progressing through structured training and on‑the‑job development to achieve technician competence.

This is a full‑time, onsite role, primarily based in Glasgow, with travel to other sites for training and tasking as required.

Essential experience of the Survival Equipment Technician:

  • Practical, hands‑on mindset with strong problem‑solving skills
  • Confidence communicating in different settings and with a range of stakeholders
  • Customer‑facing experience or teamwork in a service environment
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to working safely.

Qualifications for the Survival Equipment Technician:

  • GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in Maths and English, or equivalent
  • Basic IT literacy and confidence using computer systems.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (EDBS) / Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
