The role
We are seeking a dedicated Surveyor with experience in underground coal mining to support our operations.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will play a crucial role in providing accurate survey data and technical support to optimise mining activities and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Working with the Registered Mine Surveyor to provide survey controls for development roadway alignment and grade control, and longwall installation
Record development and longwall production on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;
Maintain accurate mine plans showing the extent of all underground workings;
Measure as builts for drivehead design, and supply survey control for modifications where necessary for development drivehead/ conveyor positioning;
Maintain survey control and topographic databases, borehole set outs and pickups, subsidence surveys and surface survey requirements;
Maintain the survey equipment in good operating condition;
Provide coaching to strengthen the competency of reports and improve the output of the survey team.
You’ll succeed if you have
Eligibility to complete Registration as an Unrestricted Mining Surveyor, and are currently enrolled as a candidate, or ready to enrol through the Board of Surveying & Spatial Information
Working knowledge of underground mining survey processes and operations
Proactive and self-motivated attitude
Demonstrated ability to apply risk management principles to ensure safe work practices
High-level computer competency, sound AutoCad and Microsoft Office skills
Proficiency in using Leica GPS and total stations desirable.
Remote pilot licence with AROC certification and experience with multi-rotor DJI RPA/UAV surveys desirable
Strong Communication skills
Highly effective planning, organising and problem-solving skills
