Performs all functions of a land surveyor for County design, maintenance, acquisition, and development service projects.
Survey and Mapping provides land survey and mapping services to support the design, right-of-way acquisition, land management, construction, and maintenance of County facilities. Supports right-of-way acquisition for transportation and storm-water related projects, including land descriptions and exhibits. Prepares and maintains drawings to aid in the design and maintenance of County facilities. Provides management direction, and control for these services, many of which are carried out through contracting. Provides management support over field survey crews.

Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of land surveying.
Knowledge of State of Florida Laws for Minimum Technical Standards for procedures in surveying.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Civil Engineering Plans, Reports, Calculations.
Knowledge of computer drafting design systems and land survey software.
Knowledge of geography of Clay County.
Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Knowledge of legal descriptions, official public records, terminology and laws relating to public property.
Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques.
Ability to supervise the work of field survey operations and survey parties.
Ability to plan and estimate the cost of surveys for major construction projects.
Ability to maintain field notes.
Ability to prepare legal descriptions, maps of surveys, and record plats.
Ability to read, comprehend and apply written and verbal instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Power Point.

Working Environment and Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 25% of the time.
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 55 HZ, 1,000 HZ and 2,000 HZ with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Visual requirement equal to that for clerical administrative whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading, etc.
The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Tasks may risk exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, etc.
Must be able to operate a county vehicle and to ascend and descend from the vehicle.
This position will require the applicant to perform field surveys that involve sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time, and clearing of debris for line of sight.
Must be able to move about within an office environment to access personnel and equipment and in outdoor environments to conduct surveys, including over uneven natural surfaces.
Regularly works around moving parts, near moving traffic or over roadways with moving traffic when on assignment. Position operates in both indoor and outdoor environments which may expose the worker to dust, inclement weather, extreme temperatures and excessive humidity, pollution, fumes and airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
