Role at a Glance
The Survey Party Chief will plan and evaluate proposed field survey projects and manage the field survey teams. This position will be a huge support to our survey & engineering teams. The Party Chief is responsible for checking the accuracy of the survey party’s work, making accurate measurements, and solving survey problems that may arise. This position will be expected to work well remotely with all necessary equipment, as well as be able to provide support in the field as needed. Our survey team supports public, private commercial, and industrial development projects.


What You’ll Do

  • Plan and coordinate field design surveys, construction staking, and other survey work.
  • Perform complex calculations, verify raw data accuracy, provide GIS information, and maintain survey records and project files.
  • Prepare finished-grade sheets, topographic maps, Records of Survey, ALTA surveys, corner staking, and related deliverables.
  • Research and interpret record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents.
  • Support field crews using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2020; analyze boundaries, process field data, and provide equipment and technical guidance.
  • Prioritize and delegate team assignments, provide technical feedback, and coordinate with clients and engineers.
  • Conduct construction-site inspections while safely navigating varied terrain and weather conditions.

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of experience preparing Subdivision Maps, including Tract Maps, Parcel Maps, and Records of Survey.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2020 and Carlson data-collection software.
  • Experience supporting a PLS with boundary analysis and field-data processing.
  • Skilled in preparing ALTA and topographic surveys and converting field data into final deliverables, including utility plots.
  • Experience preparing map-check sheets, reviewing closures and title documents, and interpreting easements and dedications.
  • Knowledge of City and County records, including Record Maps, tie notes, Corner Records, and Improvement Plans.
  • Experience preparing plan-check submittal packages and coordinating mapping and survey projects with clients and municipal agencies.

Physical Requirements

  • Walk and stand for 8+ hours daily across multiple job sites, including uneven terrain and varying weather conditions.
  • Lift, carry, and load survey equipment weighing 5–50 pounds.
  • Drive to multiple job sites each workday.
  • Communicate effectively with job-site team members.
  • Remain alert to traffic, construction equipment, and other environmental hazards.
  • Complete an annual physical.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range for position: $30/hr. - $40/hr.
