Summary

Under direct supervision, assists the Survey Crew Chief with surveying operations related to construction projects; performs a variety of manual tasks operating hand tools; and performs related duties as required.

Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists Survey Crew Chief in land and road surveys related to construction projects
• Operates survey instruments to determine location of rights-of-way, elevations, and distances for setting rods and stakes
• Cuts brush and clears area for surveying
• Assists with maintaining and servicing survey vehicle and equipment
• Utilizes flagging to direct traffic on road construction sites for public safety
• Performs related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate
• Knowledge of safety standards and practices
• Skill in the operation of hand tools; skill in the operation of surveying instruments; skill in performing basic mathematical calculations
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to understand distance and measurements; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the general public
• Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
• Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license
• May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
• Required to be on-call 24-hours a day
