Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Survey Crew Chief to support construction surveying on utility-scale renewable solar projects. This is a hands-on traveling role in the field, ideal for an experienced field survey professional who can turn digital design information into accurate field layout. This role uses GPS surveying technology, Surface files, DXF/XML alignment data, construction staking, as-builts, and volume calculations to help ensure work is laid out accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate brings strong field surveying experience, construction knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to guide other members of the survey crew. The Survey Crew Chief must be able to perform tasks involving As-Built of stockpiles and volume of basins and perform staking routines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Possess a clear understanding of Surface files and their application to the work area.
• Experience with GPS surveying, as-builts, stockpile/basin volumes, staking, DXF, and XML files.
• Possess working knowledge of drawings, sketches, and prints.
• Utilize, demonstrate and supervise proper usage of equipment.
• Ability to apply Safety First practices and the wearing of PPE while on site.
• Physically capable of carrying equipment and appreciate working outdoors.
• Continually learning the advancements in the industry.
• Train team members to promote efficient production within projected timelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience utilizing GPS surveying systems.
• Proficiency in all areas of surveying.
• Knowledgeable about current survey equipment used on sites.
• Possess working knowledge of drawings, sketches, and prints, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes and be able to utilize, demonstrate and supervise proper usage of equipment by employees in this power industry.
• Current valid driver’s license required

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

• Work is performed both in an office and field environment.
• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 50 pounds.
• 100% TRAVEL
