Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30PM

Travel Requirements: Located in Tumwater, Minimal travel is required.

Tools and Equipment: Pallet jack, standing (reach truck) and seated (propane, gas and heavy duty) forklifts, jumper cables, electric drill, hand tools, , hand truck, computer, printer, scanners, multiline telephones, hand truck Riding Pallet Jack, Manual Pallet Jack, Walk Behind Pallet jack.

Customer Interactions Constant interaction with public, state agency and political subdivision customers. Interpersonal skills are required. It is of the upmost importance that all communication is done with a positive attitude and in a professional manner.

Work Setting, including hazards Work is performed in a non-climate-controlled warehouse, and you will be exposed to excessive dust. Must be willing and able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods in noisy conditions without loss of concentration. Lifting/moving/transferring of 40lbs on a regular basis and 75lbs or more on occasion is often required.

About this Position

Your primary responsibility is being customer centric and delivering the best customer service to our partnering agencies and our purchasing customers, while performing previews, and loadouts. You will support the program’s operations with auction load out, customer service, and shipping preparation. Your contribution to the agency’s mission is by promoting sustainability and savings while maximizing the useful life of state assets and dollars returned to agencies.

Examples of duties


Some of what you'll enjoy doing includes:

Loading of Surplus Property

  • Using powered and manual pallet jacks, forklift, hand truck, or reach truck to load out online auctions, online storefront, or transferred assets for customers. “Primarily in personal vehicles.”
  • Jump start vehicles and heavy equipment to assist with yard load outs.
  • Assist customers in previewing available assets.
  • Operate and maintain forklift and pallet jacks according to policy, regulations and recognized standards. Inspect lift equipment to ensure it is safe to use and document potential maintenance issues. Document inspections.
  • Immediately report unsafe equipment, unsafe operations and accidents to the supervisor or other appropriate entity.
  • Maintain current forklift Operator’s Card.

Shipping Preparation

  • All shipping items must be packaged and awaiting pick up within 2 business days of receiving the shipping paperwork from the cashier.
  • Ensure all outbound shipments are accurately identified and labeled with appropriate paperwork.
  • Organize and maintain a clean packaging workstation.

Assist online retail store, working with customers.

  • Helps organize product for load out from online store front.
  • Works with staff to determine best location for furniture, desks, tables, chairs, etc. for preview of online store front merchandise.
  • Inventory control of past due assets that need to be picked up, relisted or recycled.

Removal and disposal of unsold assets.

  • Work with priority and online personnel to ensure smooth removal of unsold assets, to be recycled or transferred as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Two or more years of warehouse experience in shipping and receiving that includes the operation of material handling equipment such as pallet jack, standing (reach truck) and seated (propane, gas and heavy duty) forklifts.

AND

  • Experience using jumper cables, hand tools, and hand trucks.
  • A valid Driver’s License free from serious traffic violations.
  • Experience using computers, printers, scanners and multi-line telephones.
