Job Description

Monday - Friday, Day Shift

Full-Time, 1.0 FTE, Benefits Eligible

Performs high-quality data abstraction and ongoing data collection of surgical patients, generating reports, analyzing data, and assisting with data for research projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Validates and submits surgical data and participates in data audits as needed.
  • Collects data on preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative variables for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Participates in surgical quality improvement efforts and hospital-wide performance improvement teams as assigned, collaborating to review results, analyze data, and prepare reports.
  • Participates in strategy development and ensures compliance with quality tracking processes to meet verification standards.
  • Evaluates the quality and efficiency of care provision throughout the surgical care continuum.

Education Requirement:

BSN, required.

Licensure Requirement:

State of Ohio nursing license, required.

Certifications:

  • National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) certification within 90 days of hire, required.
  • Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) certification within 90 days of hire, required.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in a medical, surgical, or Perioperative setting, required.
  • Experience with surgical patients, required.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

OCCASIONALLY: Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Standing, Walking

FREQUENTLY: Decision Making, Interpreting Data, Problem solving
