What We Offer

As a Surgical Unit Specialist at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center you'll support the needs of the ambulatory care unit to ensure the patients have the information they need before surgeries. You will also assist with safe patient handling in a post surgical setting.

Rowan Medical Center is Novant's 4th's largest hospital, serving the Rowan County area since 1936. Your work will support 8 operating rooms and a large team of surgical services professionals. The ORs here see a variety of cases including ortho, ENT, general, and GYN. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with CNA experience is looking to grow their career in the surgical services area.

What You'll Do

  • Answer incoming calls to pre-op department
  • Call patients scheduled for surgeries/procedures the next day to confirm details and inform them of arrival time
  • Keep patients updated with any changes to scheduling
  • Average call volume is 50 calls/day
  • Assist CNA and RN staff pre and post surgery by taking vitals and transporting patients
  • If employee is a CNA will also remove IVs and assist with ADLs

What We're Looking For

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. CNA license and training is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: CNA experience is preferred. One year experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
  • Additional Skills (required): Basic computer skills, customer service in a high pace environment and strong interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Additional Skills (preferred): Experience answering multiple phone lines, multi tasking and medical terminology.
