Performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO
Department: Operating Room
Experience: Surgical technologist/scrub experience preferred for Surgical Technologist roles; and is required to be considered for Level II/III.
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. Surgical Technology Certification preferred. Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered with applicable surgical technologist experience.
Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law. Physical requirements/demands:
Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
