Job Description

The Surgical Technologist Trainee I role is for individuals who have been pre-selected for the Dartmouth Health Career Institute (DHCI) Surgical Technologist Training Program. This is a temporary position until the training program start date.

In this role, you will work as a Perioperative Support Technician (PST), Central Sterile Reprocessing Technician, or Licensed Nurse Assistant (for qualified LNAs). You may also be required to complete any prerequisites outlined in your DHCI program agreement.

Prior to the start of the DHCI Surgical Technologist Training Program, you will receive a new offer letter for your role as a Surgical Technologist Trainee II. This new offer letter will include all the details of your role as a DHCI student during the 11-month training program.

Responsibilities

  • Duties identified by perioperative service may include administrative or operational tasks within the central sterile, the operating room, short stay, or the PACU.
  • Orients and completes necessary competencies to perform a variety of essential environmental and material management functions.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal and professional skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work well as a member of a team.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Maintains on-track performance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (graduate equivalence)
  • Pre-selected into the Surgical Technologist Training

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
  • Medical Technician Registration within 30 days of hire
