About the role

We’re seeking an experienced and compassionate Surgical Tech to join our collaborative team. In this key role, you’ll provide high-quality, patient-centered care before in preparation for and during surgical procedures—helping each patient feel confident, informed, and cared for at every step of their surgical journey.

This role is essential in ensuring that the operating room is sterile, instruments are properly prepared, and patient safety is maintained throughout the surgical process. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program
  • BLS required
  • Minimum 1 year of scrub experience required, orthopedic strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and operating room protocols
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
  • Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Follows center regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures.
  • Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly.
  • Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants.
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings.
  • After an operation, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room.
  • Maintain rapid and efficient operating room turnovers
  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are clean, sterile, and functioning properly.
  • Assist in draping the patient and maintaining a sterile field throughout the surgery.
  • Pass instruments, sponges, and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical staff during procedures.
  • Assist with positioning patients on the operating table
  • Assist team during medical emergencies
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following infection control protocols.
  • Respond quickly to requests from surgical team members.
  • Adhere to center policies, procedures, and safety standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the center.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge of the principle of growth and development of the life span and the possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the center’s policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members.
