Sibley Hospital/Sibley Ambulatory Surgery Center in Washington, D.C

Schedule:

  • 13 Weeks
  • 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM- no set schedule
  • Call- 2-3 call shifts in a 6 week schedule. call shifts can be on the weekend or during the week 11p-7a.
  • Holidays- On Call
  • Float to Sibley Ambulatory Surgery Center as needed

Must Have Experience:

  • Ortho
  • Neuro
  • Robots

Pay Rate: $48

Responsibilities

Under the direction of an RN, the Surgical Tech will perform duties in the Operating Room to assist the surgical team, such as scrubbing on operative procedures, obtaining and preparing instruments and equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment.

  • Performs all patient care activities as defined in the skills competency model with compassion, dignity, and respect.
  • Maintains aseptic technique 100% of the time.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in gowning and gloving.
  • Consistently prepares appropriate supplies and equipment based upon procedural and/or surgeon preference list.
  • Checks equipment and instrumentation for proper function prior to procedure.
  • Performs as first scrub.
  • Prepares room for next patient.
  • Prepares instruments for decontamination.
  • Maintains safe and clean environment 100% of the time.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • BLS CPR certification is required.
  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program including clinical experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Surgical Technician is required.
  • Certified by The Association of Surgical Technologists, The National Board of Surgical Technology, or The Surgical Assisting Liaison Council Certificate of Surgical Technology is preferred.
