Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician 1-2 to join our team! We are a 24-bed acute care critical access hospital serving the Florida Parishes region of Southeast Louisiana. We offer a wide range of services, including general surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. At Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, we are able to bring you a wide range of services close to home, provided by a network of board certified physicians.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent in this position will assist the nursing/medical staff by providing skilled technical assistance during major/minor diagnostic and/or surgical procedures at LSU Health- Lallie Kemp Medical Center in the Operating Room. The work schedule will be determined by the Department Manager.

Examples of duties

One year of experience as a surgical technician; OR

An associate’s degree in surgical technology.

Supplemental information

Job Duties:

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up instruments, supplies, and equipment for each procedure.
  • Assist with patient preparation and positioning before surgery.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and support the surgical team during procedures.
  • Handle and track instruments, needles, and sponges according to safety standards.
  • Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize instruments and equipment after procedures.
  • Restock supplies and report equipment needing repair or replacement.
  • Assist with training new staff and supporting quality improvement activities.


Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment.
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Surgical Technician 1 or 2, depending on the applicant's qualifications.
Work Location: This position is located in the Operating Room.
Work Hours: Shift will be determined by the department Manager
Compensation: In addition to base pay, compensation consist of Shift Differential pay as well as compensation for being part of an On-Call schedule.
