We’re looking for a Surgical Liaison who enjoys connecting with clients, supporting patient care, and working closely with a collaborative surgery team.

What you’ll do

  • Help clients feel informed and supported throughout their time with the surgery department.
  • Create treatment plans with the clinical team and review anticipated care, costs, and changes with clients.
  • Take primary responsibility for surgical charge capture and invoice updates, ensuring services and supplies are recorded accurately.
  • Provide operating room updates as directed by the surgery team.
  • Coordinate and assist with discharges, reviewing approved home care instructions, medications, and follow-up plans.
  • Complete 24-hour postoperative check-in calls and promptly communicate client concerns to the surgery team.
  • Assist surgeons in exam rooms and help with sample collection, including phlebotomy, within your training and hospital protocols.
  • Support patient care through husbandry and safe restraint as needed.
  • Document client communications and scan records, consent forms, and completed anesthesia sheets into the appropriate patient record.
  • Work alongside our current Surgical Liaison and hospital teams to support daily department needs.

Your schedule

Monday through Friday, 9:30am–6pm. This is an in-hospital position and is not eligible for remote work.

Qualifications: Who you are

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a veterinary technician required. CVT preferred.
  • Experience in surgery or an emergency and specialty hospital preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and the ability to clearly communicate treatment plans and discharge instructions.
  • Excellent client service skills, with a compassionate and professional approach to sensitive conversations.
  • Strong attention to detail in charge capture, invoice review, and medical record documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across hospital departments.
  • Experience using electronic medical records and the ability to learn new software systems.

Working conditions

Work involves periods of standing, walking, and sitting, with possible exposure to unpleasant odors, noise, animal waste, bites, scratches, and contagious diseases. Patient handling and restraint are required as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry animals, with assistance from other staff members when lifting animals over 40 pounds.
  • Walk or stand for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach while assisting patients and performing job duties.
