Business Manager, Surgical Services
The Business Manager of Surgical Services is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving growth, financial performance, and continuous improvement across MercyOne surgical services. This role partners closely with COOs, service line leaders, and OR directors to optimize performance, expand service lines, and ensure data-driven decision-making. The Business Manager plays a key role in capital and operating budget planning, volume forecasting, and advancing system-wide surgical initiatives while aligning with MercyOne and Trinity Health’s mission and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field is required.
MBA is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in tertiary health care facility or health care systems facility is required.
Prior experience with Perioperative Services is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Lead growth and performance initiatives across MercyOne Surgical Services
Partner with surgical leadership to identify, prioritize, and implement strategic initiatives and special projects
Utilize financial modeling and data analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making
Provide COOs and OR Directors with decision support data for business planning, block scheduling, and patient flow optimization
Support the development and modeling of new surgical service lines and programs
Lead the development of annual capital and operating budgets, including volume, revenue, and expense projections
Monitor financial and operational performance, identify variances, and implement corrective action plans
Support OR Directors in understanding, managing, and optimizing departmental budgets and financial performance
Analyze and interpret financial data to drive informed operational decisions
Develop and implement annual operating plans aligned with organizational and strategic priorities
Drive continuous performance improvement using KPIs, quality metrics, and patient and associate satisfaction data
Collaborate with OR leadership to optimize OR efficiency, utilization, and overall performance
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, federal and state regulations, payer requirements, and HIPAA
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to support safe, compliant, and efficient operations
Stay current on healthcare trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices to advise leadership
Analyze benchmarking data and identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement
Lead and support initiatives related to equipment planning, capital investments, and resource utilization
Partner with system and regional leaders to align volume targets and growth strategies
Promote a culture of safety by identifying risks and ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures
Model professionalism and uphold Trinity Health’s mission, values, and standards in all interactions
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Oversees the Surgical Services Information System including system analysis, TIS support, and resource to staff.
