Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Schedules procedures, in collaboration with physician’s offices and the ED for Christiana, assuring the availability and proper utilization of resources including time, equipment, and personnel for add-on cases.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborates with Physician’s offices, ED personnel, and charge nurse to post, triage, and facilitate add on procedures.

Selects correct Preference List from Surgeon's File Listing that will request and reserve accurate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for each scheduled case.

Utilizing a proficient knowledge of basic OR equipment/instrumentation, identifies conflict associated with case requirements.

Collaborates with Scheduling Supervisor/Assistant Nurse Manager at appropriate clinical site to resolve time conflicts, contacting Surgeon's offices requesting time changes or adjustments in case schedules that will provide a positive outcome for the patient, surgeon, and system through optimization of flow and resources.

Utilizes knowledge of surgical diagnoses and collaborates with OR leadership and Anesthesia to process scheduling of urgent case requests.

Demonstrates competency using SurgiNet software to capture patient information and complete designated fields for accurate transmission and use.

Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Performs specimen drop offs at designated times.

Enters work orders in a timely manner.

Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School graduate or equivalent required. One to two years clerical experience required.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Hourly Pay Range: $21.45 - $32.17

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
