The Surgical Room Specialist I functions within the policies and procedures of UVMMC and PeriOperative Services. This position encompasses both the clinical and technical activities of assisting with patient care before, during and after surgical procedure. The Surgical Room Specialist I will assist with patient positioning, patient transport, OR equipment preparation and maintenance, anesthesia support during intubation, pathological and laboratory specimen handling. Works under direction of OR leadership and under supervision of room staff (nursing and providers).
EDUCATION
HS Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE
1 year of patient care experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SPECIAL SKILLS
Acquire BLS per hospital policy (biannual renewal required)
