Job Description

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking an academic Surgical Pathologist with demonstrated interest and expertise in Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology to work in a large academic group practice setting. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills and experience in bone and soft tissue pathology, and a commitment to excellence in clinical practice, education, and research. Additional expertise in general surgical pathology and/or related surgical pathology subspecialties is desirable.

The selected candidate will join a group of 26 anatomic pathologists in a department of over 40 physicians and scientists. Department faculty members have diverse expertise and interests in all subspecialties of anatomic pathology and are engaged in scholarly activities, including research and teaching in the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Arizona. This position includes an academic appointment with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Applicants from any academic rank are encouraged to apply.

Mayo Clinic in Arizona has a robust and growing multidisciplinary sarcoma oncology program that offers a stimulating environment for professional growth and career development. The selected candidate will work closely with our large multidisciplinary team of physicians from surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, orthopedic oncology, musculoskeletal radiology, interventional radiology, and related disciplines to deliver coordinated care to our patients with sarcomas and other diseases of bone and soft tissues.

Board certification in Anatomic Pathology is required. Qualified candidates should hold an MD/DO, MD/DO-PhD, or equivalent degree. Fellowship training in Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology or documented subspecialty sign-out experience in bone and soft tissue pathology for a minimum of 2 years is required. Recent or prospective fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply. Eligibility for Arizona licensure is required. A track record of academic productivity as well as collaborations with clinicians and/or basic science researchers is preferred.
