Job Description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Tufts Medical Center is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Anatomic Pathologist with a focus on surgical pathology to join our academic faculty.

This position emphasizes high-quality diagnostic surgical pathology, including subspecialty sign-out, intraoperative consultation, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical teams. The successful candidate will contribute to a collegial academic environment with opportunities in teaching and scholarly activity.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree

  • Board certification or eligibility in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or AP/CP

  • Fellowship training in one or more of the following is highly desired:

    • Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology

    • Gynecologic (GYN) Pathology

    • Genitourinary (GU) Pathology

  • Additional expertise or interest in cytopathology is preferred

  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Massachusetts

  • Candidates at all career stages will be considered. Fellowship-trained recent graduates are encouraged to apply; prior practice experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic surgical pathology services, including subspecialty sign-out aligned with training

  • Perform and interpret intraoperative consultations (frozen sections)

  • Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and tumor boards

  • Collaborate with clinical colleagues across surgical and oncology services

  • Contribute to teaching of residents and medical students

  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, including turnaround time optimization and service efficiency

Academic Opportunities

The salary range for this position is $296,958 – $314,189 for Associate Professor and $353,590 - $386,408 for Professor annually. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.
