THE OPPORTUNITY Harvard Bioscience is currently seeking a qualified individual will routinely perform surgical procedures using DSI implantable telemetry devices. They will be involved in customer support revenue generating projects and surgical training of DSI devices. They will also participate in the development of new products and surgical techniques.

Essential Job Functions

  • Contribute to Surgical Services Revenue:
    1. Perform simple small animal surgeries
    2. Provide in house hands-on surgical training for DSI customers
    3. Perform surgeries for pre-implanted small animals at DSI for shipment to the customer
  • Provide surgical support to customers and sales reps:
  • Provide laboratory support of animals:
    1. Monitor the health and welfare of all animals following applicable guidelines for care and use of laboratory animals, shared weekend and holiday health checks
    2. Provide peri and post-operative animal care duties
    3. Contribute to maintaining the laboratory
    4. Shared animal husbandry including weekends and holidays.
  • Continued Improvement to Surgical Service internal documentation
    1. Maintain internal records and compliance documentation

Surgical experience with DSI telemetry.

Education and Experience and/or equivalent

High School or equivalent, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience with small laboratory animals. Willing to obtain certification (SRT or SRS) through the Academy of Surgical Research.

Physical demands

Ability to perform microscopic surgery, sitting, and standing for the majority of the day.
