What You'll Do

As a Surgery Scheduler, you will:

  • Schedule surgeries and pre-operative appointments
  • Coordinate surgery schedules with physicians, hospitals, and surgical facilities
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Obtain insurance precertification's and authorizations
  • Secure surgery authorizations for workers' compensation and industrial patients
  • Communicate surgical instructions and information to patients
  • Prepare and mail patient surgery packets and related materials
  • Locate and pull patient charts for scheduled procedures
  • Complete surgery scheduling forms required by hospitals and surgical centers
  • Maintain accurate scheduling records and documentation
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, providers, and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 12 to 18 months of related healthcare, medical scheduling, insurance verification, or administrative experience preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Strong computer and office technology skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer
  • Frequent communication with patients, providers, and staff
  • Ability to move throughout the office as needed
  • Ability to occasionally lift or transport up to 25 pounds
  • Visual ability to review schedules, medical records, and documentation
