JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: Y-NP-3480046 Profession: Nurse Practitioner Specialty: Surgery Orthopedic Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Buffalo, MN Service Setting: Hospital Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: Apr 01, 2027 – Sep 16, 2027 Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7am-4:30pm (OR M/T/Th, clinic W, Admin F) PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Mostly teenage and adult, no age restriction Patient Volume/Census: 20-25 patients per day (clinic) Rounding: Mornings and occasional weekends Case Mix: Orthopedic surgery including total joint replacements, fracture repairs, foot/ankle, shoulder, knee, hip, hand/wrist, general orthopedics FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 34 (hospital) EMR System: Epic Reason for Coverage: Military leave (6-8 months) REQUIRED PROCEDURES First assist in OR for total joint replacements Fracture repairs Foot/ankle surgeries Shoulder surgeries Knee surgeries Hip surgeries Hand/wrist surgeries General orthopedics Casting/splinting/DME application Joint injections JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active MN license (PA or NP) Board: Board certification in specialty (MN Board of Medical Practice or equivalent) DEA: Yes Certifications: BLS Tier 1 – Basic Life Support required within 180 days; Certification as Physician Assistant (NCCPA) or Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) required upon hire Experience: Minimum 1+ year experience; 1+ year OR experience required; prior orthopedic/sports medicine experience preferred Other Qualifications: CSR (Controlled Substance Registration) required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide orthopedic surgical assistance in the OR, including first assist for total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and various orthopedic surgeries. Manage clinic patient visits, seeing 20-25 patients per day for orthopedic consultations and follow-ups. Perform casting, splinting, DME application, and joint injections as needed. Conduct rounding on patients in the mornings and occasional weekends. Administer and coordinate care in collaboration with attending physicians and support staff.
