Eastcott Referrals is offering a new, one-year specialty internship position for candidates who are interested in advancing their career in the field of veterinary soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. It is anticipated that completion of the internship will put the successful candidate in a strong position to apply for residencies.
Our surgery team consists of five RCVS recognised specialists and one post-residency clinician. We routinely work alongside specialists in medicine, anaesthesia and imaging and frequently collaborate with specialists in ophthalmology, cardiology and dentistry/oral maxillo-facial surgery. We benefit from having excellent facilities including full MIS capability and perform all surgeries expected in a specialist referral hospital including THR, CUE and a new, rapidly growing interventional service. Supporting equipment/facilities includes a purpose-built ICU, (DR) radiography, ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, high field MRI, CT and in-house 3D printing capabilities.
To support our aim of providing the highest level of clinical training, the intern will work directly alongside and be supervised by our surgeons and receive regular training and assessment throughout the year. We also expect the intern to have primary responsibility for some referred cases as they progress through their internship. Interns will also participate in surgery rounds, teaching seminars, journal clubs and will have access to a range of Linnaeus-wide training opportunities including continuing professional development provided by senior members of staff. The intern will also be encouraged to complete a clinical research project for publication.
Excellent written and verbal communication is required together with interpersonal and organisational skills, eligibility to work in the UK, membership (or eligibility) of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and a valid driving license.
Closing date for applications is 15th August 2026 or sooner if sufficient applications are received.
The anticipated starting date for the internship is flexible but ideally Autumn 2026.
