Job Description

The Department of Surgery, Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine in conjunction with the Yale-New Haven Health System is seeking academically oriented and qualified surgeons to join our faculty and provide services at Yale Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. Applications are invited for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health Systems and our offsite Clinics. We are seeking candidates with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and the commitment to make important contributions to the field of Colon & Rectal Surgery and developing and academic career.

Bridgeport Hospital is a private, not-for-profit, general acute care hospital located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, serving patients from Fairfield and New Haven counties. Licensed for 501 inpatient beds across two campuses and a member of Yale New Haven Health. Bridgeport Hospital offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency and trauma care. It is home to Connecticut’s only dedicated burn center and provides advanced cardiac and vascular care, oncology, maternity and pediatric services, neurology, surgical services, and more.

Colonoscopies are also performed by most of the providers. In addition to excellent clinical and teaching skills, the successful candidate should be comfortable with advanced minimally invasive/robotic surgery. Endoscopic as well as pelvic floor/anorectal surgery skills are mandatory. The faculty member will be expected to teach medical students, and residents, and to participate in clinical research. Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a strong record of clinical excellence with accomplishments in basic or clinical research, a strong commitment to surgical education and teaching, and an interest and expertise in Colon & Rectal Surgery. Candidates should have completed a Colon & Rectal Fellowship and should be Board Eligible/Board Certified in General Surgery and Board Eligible/Board Certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
