
The Department of Surgery, Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine in conjunction with the Yale-New Haven Health System is seeking academically oriented and qualified surgeons to join our faculty and provide services at both Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, CT and Westerly Hospital in Westerly RI. Applications are invited for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health Systems and our offsite Clinics. We are seeking candidates with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and the commitment to make important contributions to the field of Colon & Rectal Surgery, and developing and academic career.
Qualified candidates will have a strong record of clinical excellence with accomplishments in basic or clinical research, a strong commitment to surgical education and teaching, and an interest and expertise in Colon & Rectal Surgery.Candidates should have completed a Colon & Rectal Fellowship and should be Board Eligible/Board Certified in General Surgery and Board Eligible/Board Certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Lawrence Memorial Hospital is a general, acute care hospital that has been serving patients since 1912. L M is licensed for 280 beds, employs more than 2,000 people and services 10 shoreline towns between Rhode Island and the Connecticut River, as well as the residents of Fishers Island, NY, in its primary service area. The Colon and Rectal Surgery service has eight surgeons across the system with one surgeon who primarily provides care at L M with an outpatient stoma nurse. Approximately 900 bowel resections and 1400 outpatient procedures are performed across the health system. Colonoscopies are also performed by most of the providers. In addition to excellent clinical skills, the successful candidate should be comfortable with advanced minimally invasive/robotic surgery. Endoscopic as well as pelvic floor/anorectal surgery skills are mandatory. This is a full-time position. We offer a competitive salary along with attractive benefits.
