The SURG FIRST ASSIST (RN) is responsible for providing nursing care for patient populations in the operating rooms (OR) and for perioperative care in the transition from preoperative preparation, through surgery and to recovery areas. The SURG FIRST ASSIST (RN) must possess the skills necessary to assist the physician in a variety of surgical procedures, must minimize turnaround times between procedures, and follow established safety procedures. The SURG FIRST ASSIST (RN) maintains and provides accurate communication during the intraoperative and perioperative periods. The SURG FIRST ASSIST (RN) uses the nursing process to include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care throughout the patient’s stay in the OR areas.
