About Island Gold Mine Alamos Gold’s Island Gold Mineis one of Canada’s highest grade and lowest cost gold mines. With over 550 team members, the underground operation is located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. This has supported a multi-phase expansion of the operation, driving production higher, costs lower, and strong free cash flow growth. Purpose:

Reporting to the H&S Training Supervisor, the Surface Equipment Trainer will act as a subject matter expert on Surface training standards, review and provide constructive feedback on new and existing standard operating procedures, and uphold OHSA regulations and Alamos Gold Safety Procedures and Policies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training and development for Surface Mobile Equipment Operators while ensuring all persons
  • working on site are authorized, appointed, and skilled to complete their job function.
  • Assist with the development of training programs and materials.
  • Assist with the development of SOPs and procedures to ensure clarity and transparency in the
  • progression of Operators.
  • Assist in maintaining the training matrix.
  • Ensure assigned equipment is operated and maintained to original equipment manufacturer
  • specifications and industry best practices.
  • Ensure employee training and legislative requirements are met.
  • Identify training needs or gaps to develop and revise training and assessment resources.
  • Complete reports, coaching logs, and training sign-off while ensuring proper record keeping.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives of the department and operator skill level.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety through work habits, one on one discussions, and
  • workplace behaviors.
  • Be highly skilled in the area of expertise he/she will be instructing.
  • Prepare lesson plans and outline course materials to be used.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Health & Safety Manager.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience providing safety-related training (i.e., Working at Heights, Confined Space, etc.)
  • “Train the Trainer” accreditation.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating Mobile equipment, Surface Common Core credentials an asset.
  • Self-starter who is able to anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced,
  • growing work environment.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and written with both internal and external contacts and the ability
  • to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office programs is required.

Working Conditions:

  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 7 days on and 7 days off (11-hour days).
  • Willingness and ability to work extra hours and on call when required. Flights are available from Sudbury, Rouyn and Toronto.
  • Pay or shift range:$98,600 CAD to$147,900 CAD
