Job Description

Job Title: Surface Drill Mechanics
Location: Northwestern Ontario
Base Rate: $62.50/hr.
OT: 4 hours daily paid at $93.75/hr.
Schedule: 14X14 – 12-hour days
Shift Premium: $1.25/hr. for night shift
Accommodations: Camp accommodation provided at no cost
Flights Paid: Yes, company-paid flights from any major airport in Canada
Tools Provided: Company tools provided
Travel Time: Paid travel to and from the site daily and at the beginning and end of each rotation

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain surface drill rigs.
• Perform major overhauls and running repairs on rotary blast hole drills and top hammer drill rigs.
• Experience working on Epiroc surface drill rigs is preferred, including Pit Viper, SmartROC T45, and SmartROC T40 drill rigs.
• Experience with other surface drill manufacturers such as Sandvik, Atlas Copco, Caterpillar, Bucyrus, or similar equipment will also be considered.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, powertrain, and electronic control systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair drill control systems and OEM diagnostic software.
• Complete scheduled maintenance, inspections, component replacements, and major repairs.
• Repair rock drills, rotary heads, feed systems, compressors, hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, and other drilling components.
• Utilize OEM diagnostic software, service manuals, schematics, and testing equipment to identify equipment failures.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment in both the shop and field as required.
• Interpret and complete scheduled and unscheduled work orders.
• Complete detailed service reports and equipment inspection documentation.
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation and reliability.
• Recommend repair solutions and reliability improvements.
• Adhere to all site safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work primarily in the shop, with opportunities to travel into the field as required for running repairs and breakdown support.
Requirements:
• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or equivalent heavy equipment mechanical trade certification such as Truck and Transport or Agricultural Technician.
• Red Seal certification is considered an asset but is not required if provincially licensed within the province you are working.
• Recent experience repairing heavy equipment is preferred.
• Mining equipment experience is preferred.
• Experience performing major overhauls and running repairs on surface drill rigs is strongly preferred.
• Experience working on Epiroc surface drills, including Pit Viper and SmartROC drill rigs, is preferred.
• Experience working on other surface drill brands, including Sandvik, Atlas Copco, Caterpillar, or similar equipment, will also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, powertrain, and electronic control systems.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting drill control systems and OEM diagnostic software is considered an asset.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment in both shop and field environments.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical schematics.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Ability to work primarily in a shop environment with opportunities to perform field service work as required.
All Successful Candidates Must:
• Be proficient in English, both verbal and written.
• Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Provide a minimum of two direct supervisor references.
• Pass a Criminal Record check.
• Provide a clean five-year driver's abstract.
• Pass an eight-panel drug test, including marijuana, and an alcohol breath test.
• Not be seeking a subcontractor role, as subcontractor opportunities are not available at this time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
