Job Summary/Purpose

Oversee the performance of engineering functions for the Mechanical/Civil Design Engineering group that provides high quality capital modifications that meet Engineering cost and schedule.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Manage engineering work assignments to ensure the group is responding appropriately to department and organizational needs. Control engineering cost through maximization of staff productivity and tracking expenditures within budget parameters.

Monitor personnel and group effectiveness in achieving established goals. Function as a team leader as needed. Supervise personnel performance and resolve employee conflict or concerns. Supervise personnel performance and resolve employee conflict or concerns.

Communicate with all levels of the organization including representing the department at all meetings. Propose process and design changes that improve station and personnel efficiency.

Ensure all activities are performed within regulatory and procedural guidelines.

Interface with other Entergy sites to implement best practices in a standardized approach. Interface with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities.

Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.

Support of Emergency Response Organization (ERO duty). Duty weeks are roughly one per month.

Engineering Duty Manager (EDM) rotation support for supporting emergent issues during off hours (nights, weekends). Duty weeks are roughly once every 8 weeks.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

B.S. Degree in Engineering. Mechanical or Civil degree preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position

5 years of experience in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, production, or equivalent.

Desired: 3 years of experience in an engineering department.

Preferred: Previous experience in design engineering of mechanical systems or structural design.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Technical proficiency in the assigned area. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Good communication, conflict management, and change management skills (desired).

As described in 3.3, technical support personnel provide additional services beyond those provided by the operating organization professional-technical personnel. Additionally, they may also review operations of the nuclear power plant.

Engineer in Charge.

The engineer in charge of technical support shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or the Physical Sciences and have 3 years of professional level experience in nuclear services, nuclear plant operation, or nuclear engineering, and the necessary overall nuclear background to determine when to call consultants and contractors for dealing with complex problems beyond the scope of owner—organization expertise."

Candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978 and ANSI Section 4.6.1. ANSI Section 4.6.1- Engineer in Charge Position: At all sites except GGNS, this is the Engineering Supervisors or individuals serving in a supervisory capacity (according to the GGNS UFSAR this is the Engineering Director (UFSAR Table 13.1-2)).
