Supervisor, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Supervisor is responsible for direct patient care, including the assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the patient case management. The supervisor will oversee the activities of the department and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates skill in the performance of all facets of the department activities.
  • Assures quality and diversity of Cardiopulmonary Rehab Services with guidance from the Medical Director and CV Director. Develops and implements clinical policy and procedure according to standard of the accrediting associations and governmental requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring competencies and appropriate delivery of care, according to the age specific needs of the patient population, by all Cardiopulmonary personnel.
  • Responsible for supervision of all personnel in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department with the oversight of the CV Director:
    • Interviewing, hiring, and termination of personnel.
    • Completion of departmental orientation
    • Disciplinary actions as necessary
    • Annual performance appraisals/goal setting
    • Completion of annual skills checklists
    • Cross training of staff to ensure adequate staffing in both Cardiac and Respiratory Services
  • Assists leadership with the following:
    • Preparation of capital and operating budgets and meeting approve budgetary guidelines.
    • Strategic planning process for new equipment, services, increased market share, and community education
    • Monitoring and maintaining departmental compliance to meet all regulatory (Covenant, state, federal, and Joint Commission) requirements.
  • Specific areas of responsibility include:
    • Schedule equipment PMs and repairs
    • Review and processing of payroll
    • Approve department specific invoices for payment.
    • Staffing of the department on all shifts for illness, vacations, etc.
    • Documentation of required hospital/professional education
    • License verification for all staff
    • Data collection for quality measures and statistical tracking
    • Verification of patient charges
  • Provides patient education on disease processes and management.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

Two years prior experience in cardiopulmonary rehab.

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain current license in state of Tennessee for RN, RRT, RD, or PT. Alternatively, an Exercise Physiologist will be accepted with one of the following certifications: 1) ACSM EP-C or 2) AACVPR CCRP or 3) AACVPR PRC (state licensure isn't available in TN)

  • American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist (general health and wellness specialty)
  • American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional (cardiac rehab specialty)
  • American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Pulmonary Rehab Certificate (pulmonary rehab specialty)
