Job Description

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Management or related field. Six years progressively responsible supervisory experience in heavy equipment maintenance management. Proven ability in the direction of a skilled management and represented workforce in the maintenance of complex heavy equipment. Thorough knowledge of maintenance management programs, team building, and manpower utilization. In lieu of degree, experience as described above may substitute on a year for year basis.

INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job-related areas.These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interview and/or competency assessments.

Responsible for the efficient implementation of repair and preventive maintenance programs. Serves as the replacement for the General Superintendent when required. Schedules, plans, and directs daily operations at the operating facility. Coordinates warranty repairs, outside vendor work, heavy maintenance repair activities, and the day-to-day expenditure of funds. Supervises preventive maintenance, daily repair, and specialty crafts (Maintenance Supervisors) in the performance of their work. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists with the overall work goals and activities.
  2. Maintains staffing and supervises employees as appropriate to needs of branch.
  3. Creates and maintains a consistent quality and customer focused team orientation among subordinate employees which supports the division's mission.
  4. Conducts inspections at all hours of operations to ensure quality standards and maintenance procedures are being met.
  5. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business.
  6. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises the Maintenance Supervisors in the day-to-day accomplishment of their duties.
