Help people build the skills, confidence and independence they need to move towards their forever home.

Milestones Trust is looking for a compassionate, motivated female Support Worker to work flexibly across two services; Blackhorse House in Downend and Graeme Close in Fishponds.

Both are transitional services supporting people with learning disabilities and autism to develop practical life skills, greater independence, choice and a life of purpose as they prepare to move into longer-term homes.

The role

You will provide person-centred support that builds independence while also meeting each person’s individual health, wellbeing and care needs. To support flexibility across the whole service, you will need to be willing and able to provide the full range of support required, including:

  • Supporting daily living skills such as cooking, budgeting, household tasks and managing a tenancy.
  • Providing personal care respectfully and in line with individual support plans.
  • Supporting health and wellbeing, including attending health appointments and following agreed health guidance.
  • Supporting people with moving and handling where required, using appropriate equipment and following training and individual plans.
  • Supporting access to the community, public transport, activities, education, volunteering, work opportunities and relationships.
  • Working alongside individuals to achieve goals, build confidence and develop the skills needed for greater independence.

About you

You will be kind, patient, reliable and adaptable, with a positive and person-centred approach. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and flexible enough to work across both services according to the needs of the people we support.

Experience is not essential. If you share our values, we will provide the training and support you need, including training for personal care and moving and handling.

What we offer

Comprehensive induction, ongoing training and development opportunities, including:

  • 30 days’ annual leave, including recognised public holidays
  • Learning and development to support your career growth
  • Nationally recognised qualifications, from entry level care to management
  • Flexible working, with rotas provided in advance
  • Occupational Sick Pay after two years, increasing with service
  • Health Cash Plan after probation, offering at least £695 cashback for health treatments (dental, optical, therapies, maternity/paternity, prescriptions)
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Free enhanced DBS check
  • Dayforce Wallet, giving you access to your earnings before payday
  • Employee referral scheme with financial rewards
  • Employee Assistance Programme from day one, offering confidential 24/7 support
  • Company pension scheme to help grow your retirement savings

We pride ourselves with being able to offer staff opportunities to develop and progress their careers within the Trust.

A rewarding role supporting people to gain independence, achieve personal goals and prepare for their next home.

About Milestones Trust

Milestones Trust supports adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs to live their best lives. Established in 1986, we support more than 500 people across Bath, Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire.

Our approach is based around the fact that you can't build a support service around a complex condition. You can build it around a person, if you understand their particular care needs, wants and ambitions. And while that is our starting point, everyone changes. So we change with them.

The care we provide is straightforward, practical and above all, tailored to people's individual needs. We take the time to get to know the people we support, helping them keep their connections to their own lives, their family, friends and community. We support people to live with more choice and more independence. We exist to make sure they have every opportunity to live happy and fulfilled lives.
