Job Description

Allegiance Heart & Home Care is currently seeking a reliable, respectful and experienced Support Worker to provide ongoing domestic assistance to an older client living in Panania NSW and surronding surburbs.

This is a regular weekly shift and would suit a support worker who is looking for consistent hours and enjoys helping older people maintain a clean, safe and comfortable home environment.

About the Role

You will support the client with household tasks that they are unable to complete independently.

Duties may include:

• General household cleaning and tidying
• Vacuuming and mopping floors
• Cleaning bathrooms and toilets
• Cleaning kitchen surfaces and general kitchen areas
• Dusting and wiping surfaces
• Laundry, folding and putting away clothes
• Changing bed linen
• Taking out household rubbish
• Keeping commonly used areas clean and organised
• Assisting to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment
• Providing friendly, respectful and appropriate social interaction during the shift
• Identifying and reporting any changes, hazards or concerns to the Care Manager
• Completing progress notes following each shift

The successful applicant must be comfortable working independently in a client's home while following the client's care plan, preferences and Allegiance Heart & Home Care policies and procedures.

About the Client

The client is an older person living at home with family support and requires assistance with maintaining the household.

As the client's primary language is Spanish, Spanish-speaking support workers are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants who do not speak Spanish but have excellent communication skills and experience supporting culturally and linguistically diverse older people are also welcome to apply.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Previous experience in aged care, disability support, home care, community care or domestic assistance
• Current National Police Check
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Current CPR Certificate
• Australian driver's licence and reliable transport
• Valid Australian working rights
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
• Ability to complete electronic progress notes after each shift

Desirable

• Spanish-speaking
• Previous experience supporting older people in their own homes
• Experience providing domestic assistance
• Understanding of person-centred care
• Experience working with clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
• Availability for additional shifts within the local area
