General Description:

The primary function of the Registered Veterinary Technician is to provide professional veterinary services in accordance with the policies of the Practice and the highest standards of the veterinary technician profession. This will include the performance of your duties honestly, ethically, and diligently. Your work at the Practice will require versatility, as you may be required to respond to a variety of administrative and operational needs. This will include elements of supervision, planning and coordinating efforts of others to ensure that the Hospital remains functioning with the highest quality veterinary services.

Required Knowledge:

The position of Registered Veterinary Technician requires the holding of the diploma of Veterinary Technology or similar diploma from an accredited veterinary technology school satisfactory for licensing in the province for which they are employed.

Reporting:

The Registered Veterinary Technologist’s primary reporting responsibility is to the Office or Practice Manager of the veterinary Practice.

Specific Accountabilities:

The Registered Veterinary Technologist is responsible to perform all the usual functions of a Registered Veterinary Technician and is accountable for client cases for which he/she/they/them has carriage including, but not limited to routine therapeutic procedures, patient record management, anesthetic monitoring, post-operative management/monitoring, accurate client billing, client education, and discharge of patients. The Registered Veterinary Technician is expected to maintain his/her/they/them professional standards.
