Part-Time Assistant Teacher (25 Hours/Week)

The Goddard School located at 900 Gaither Rd. Rockville, MD, is seeking a motivated, caring and dependable Part-Time Assistant Teacher to join our team!

At our School, we put our teachers first because they put our students first. As a Part-Time Assistant Teacher, you will support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging learning experiences, maintaining a safe and nurturing classroom environment and helping children learn through play and exploration.

Schedule

Part-Time Position – Approximately 25 hours per week
Scheduled Hours: 1:00-6:00PM

Part-Time Assistant Teacher Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through positive interactions and active engagement
• Help maintain a safe, clean, organized and welcoming classroom environment
• Supervise children and provide individualized support as needed
• Support classroom routines including meals, diapering/toileting, transitions and playground supervision
• Assist with daily communication and relationship-building with families
• Follow all health, safety and licensing regulations
• Work collaboratively with teachers and administration to create a positive school culture

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare, preschool or educational setting preferred
• Warm, patient and nurturing personality
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and responsibly
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
• Must meet state licensing requirements, including background checks and required credentials
