Job Description

  • Opportunities for experienced Support Services Associates to join our friendly & supportive team!

  • Casual positions - Morning, afternoon and night shifts available

  • Fitzroy and Kew locations

About the Role

We are looking for energetic and passionate support services staff to help grow the casual pool across our Fitzroy site.

You are adaptable, have a can-do attitude, and really consider yourself team player, ready to assist to ensure our patients receive the best care.

You will communicate and work with team members across multiple departments within SVHM. For this reason, excellent written and verbal communication is essential, as well as feeling comfortable making phone calls and following up messages.

Your duties will include a variety of ward support and cleaning tasks, including:

  • Clean and maintain the clinical environment

  • Deliver meals & beverages to patients

  • Transport patients, beds and trollies

  • Patient and ward support includes bed making, restocking , messages and equipment collection

  • Perform duties assigned under emergency response procedures


The classification for this position will be PS25 ($30.67 per hour + casual loading).

Your Contribution

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, course code HLT33115

  • Follow basic food safety practices, course code HLTFSE001 (if not completed as part of the Cert III in Health Services Assistance)

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise work practices to meet established time and quality standards

  • Experience in patient transport, utilising a patient bed mover preferred

  • A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History check, or willing to obtain

About the Support Services Team

Become an integral member of the dynamic Support Services team and assist our teams in the delivery of excellence across our many services including cleaning, patient ward support, patient food production and delivery, clerical ward support, patient transport and car parking services across our sites.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
