Are you ready to play a vital role in tackling one of Birmingham’s biggest challenges? As Europe’s youngest major city and one of the most diverse in the UK, Birmingham is ambitious about its future—and we’re determined to be the best.

Birmingham City Council is the largest social housing landlord in Europe, managing nearly 60,000 homes. Our Housing Solutions Service is the front door for residents facing homelessness or housing crisis. With rising pressures—from legislative changes to the cost-of-living crisis—we are currently supporting over 5,000 families in temporary accommodation.

Our priority is clear: to help people move into safe, secure housing while providing high-quality, outcome-focused temporary accommodation.

About the role:

As a Temporary Accommodation Reviews Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting statutory homelessness reviews, helping ensure fair and lawful decision-making for some of our most vulnerable residents.

Working closely with the Reviews Team, you will:

  • Prepare case files and supporting documentation for Reviews Officers
  • Liaise with customers, legal representatives, and internal teams
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure cases are managed in line with legislation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
  • Triage and allocate review cases efficiently

This is a fast-paced and rewarding role requiring attention to detail, organisation, and sensitivity when dealing with complex situations.

About the Team:

Our Temporary Accommodation Team ensures households have access to safe, suitable accommodation. We work collaboratively with landlords, managing agents, and internal services to maintain high standards across our portfolio and deliver compliant, high-quality services.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Customer-focused, empathetic, and professional
  • Able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • A confident communicator who works well with others
  • Passionate about delivering excellent housing services

Experience in housing, homelessness, or local government is helpful—but not essential. Full training will be provided.

Please upload your up-to-date CV via the attachments part of your application, this is required for shortlisting. Unfortunately, we cannot consider any applications without a CV attached
