Job Description

The Internship experience is designed to develop potential employees in discerning their calling and career while introducing them to various aspects of ministry through FCA. FCA internship experiences vary from department to department; however, the primary goal of each internship is to develop the intern's understanding of his/her individual calling to ministry through related training and experience. Further information about each specific internship is available by contacting the FCA staff associated with this posting.

This is a part-time (maximum of 29 hours per week) paid internship. The length of the internship will be dictated by the position supervisor.

MINISTERIAL DUTIES

These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission and this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.

  • Agree with, and abide by, FCA's Christian Community Statement
  • Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord's will for FCA.
  • Lead, conduct and provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship and living by example so they are equipped to serve others.
  • Connect to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs (see FCA's Christian Community Statement) at all times.

Additional Details:

Fellowship of Christian Athletes is seeking a highly organized intern to serve in FCA’s Receipting department. This role is responsible for the maintenance of, and running processes in, the FCA donor database. This includes maintaining donor accounts, processing donation batches in the database, and preparing daily deposits for posting and transmission to FCA’s bank on a daily basis. The intern will assist with mail opening of donation income as scheduled.

Some responsibilities and projects would include:

  • Help with daily processes within the donor database to maintain donor records, process donation batches, post data to the donor database, and transmit the daily deposit to the bank.
  • Daily closeout of funds received- Includes reconciling funds, scanning checks, preparing daily deposit, proofing batches, posting to the general ledger, etc.
  • Processing check donations and electronic funds donations in batches that come directly to the Support Center
  • Cross training on other aspects of the department

Primary Deliverables:

The Receipting department intern will be responsible for consistent, high-quality daily execution of processing FCA’s donations. Key deliverables include successful processing of received donations into FCA’s database, assistance with mail opening, and preparation and transmission of daily deposits to FCAs bank. Success in this role will be measured by reliability, efficiency of data entry, flexibility, and alignment with ministry objectives.

Desired Skills:

This position requires a highly organized person. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is helpful. General overall knowledge of accounting processes preferred. The intern will possess a strong desire to serve our Lord through service to all FCA personnel and constituency.

Position/Internship Details:

This 12-week (approximately 30-40 hours per week) paid position/internship. Please note that the FCA headquarters are based in Kansas City, MO, and this position may require travel.
