Simberi Gold Company Limited (SGCL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tabar Island Holdings Pty Ltd, a joint venture between St Barbara Limited and Lingbao Gold International Co. Ltd.

Our Simberi Operations consists of an open cut mine on the northernmost island in the Tabar group of islands in the province of New Ireland in Papua New Guinea. Our vision is to grow sustainably and create enduring, positive impacts for the people and communities touched by our operations.

We are currently seeking a Supply Supervisor to join our team in a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Supply Superintendent, the Supply Supervisor will be responsible for the safe, efficient and accurate delivery of the warehousing and logistics services to the operations. The Supply Supervisor role is an important front line leadership role that takes ownership of the key supply chain activities that are required for business success.

The opportunity

Key Accountabilities

Everyone at SGCL is required to understand and act in accordance with our values and policies and meet all relevant internal and external compliance obligations.

You will:

  • Actively participate in, and promote, our Health, Safety & Environment programs to ensure the safety of everyone involved in Simberi operations.
  • Supervise, coach, and lead the Warehouse and Logistics teams to ensure compliance to process, quality of work and timely delivery of services.
  • Assist the Supply Superintendent and Inventory Controller in the planning and control or critical consumables, including fuel, explosives and reagents.
  • Provide frontline supervision of the wharf and logistics yards, including cargo vessel activities.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship and coordinate closely with our 3PL providers in PNG and Australia.
  • Keep up to date with the status and location of all cargo shipments to and from Simberi.
  • Maintain an accurate container management report and deliver the most efficient use of the available container fleet.
  • Take responsibility for stock accuracy in the warehouse and drive the timely and accurate completion of cycle counts. Hold the team accountable for quality and accuracy.
  • Seek opportunities to improve by reviewing processes, suggesting changes and improvements and contributing to the maintenance of policies, procedures, and workflows for the Supply team.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with site maintenance and operations personnel to ensure clear understanding of their needs and provide effective materials delivery for routine maintenance, shutdowns and emergency breakdowns.
  • Lead the team to effectively manage material discrepancies and variances, promptly apply corrective actions and provide clear report to the Supply Superintendent.
  • Work with the Supply Superintendent and the warehouse team to:
  • Ensure all Dangerous Goods (DG) and chemicals are stored and handled in accordance with applicable policy and regulations.
  • Materials preservation programs are in place to ensure critical stock is monitored and kept in a condition ready for use, avoiding any damage and deterioration to stock.

Scheduling accountabilities

  • Work with a sense of urgency to deliver materials and supply chain services safely and on time.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks, by identifying and communicating priorities.
  • Strong participation in the cargo vessel scheduling and planning process.

People accountabilities

  • Establish and maintain a team environment which is conducive to two-way communication and respect and encourages team members to speak up.
  • Set clear expectations for warehouse and logistics team members to ensure they understand their role and what they need to deliver to be successful.
  • Hold the team accountable to deliver to promise and achieve KPI’s.
  • Contribute to the Supply team being considered as a professional service function that delivers provide all necessary services/duties to expectation.

Essential

  • An attitude and behaviors that are consistent with SGCL Values.
  • A high level of enthusiasm for the work and a drive to achieve performance goals.
  • At least 5 years proven Supply Chain experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in warehouse process, stocktake, logistics and supply planning.

Desirable

  • Proficient in the use of the PRONTO ERP system as it relates to inventory, warehousing, and logistics.
