
Position Function: Under the supervision and/or direction of the Supply Distribution Manager or designee, processes and distributes all consumable medical supplies and equipment throughout the Chambersburg Hospital.

1. Utilizes proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self and others.

4. Assists in establishing Performance Improvement Program for department.
5. Seeks assistance from Supervisor/Manager with problems outside the scope of responsibilities.
6. Maintains knowledge of current trends, issues and practices in healthcare Supply Chain and Inventory Control.
7. Participates in cross-training, seminars and in-services as made available for job improvement opportunities.
8. Ensures supply transactions are accurately documented and entered into Supply Chain computer system as they occur.
9. Processes and reviews inventory auto-replenishment program required to initiate requisitions and ensure appropriate levels of inventory are maintained.
10. Performs scheduled inventory counts for assigned par level locations in accordance with replenishment schedule.
11. Picks supplies and restocks par locations.
12. Prioritizes workload to ensure that replenishment schedule is followed.
13. Picks supplies based on OR schedule, requisitions and/or pick tickets.
14. Provides direct delivery replenishment services to departments with no par level inventory.
15. Receives and processes transfers from other Summit warehouses and direct vendor deliveries.
16. Receives implants and other OR case-specific deliveries.
17. Ensures accurate and on-time deliveries to all customers.
18. Reports problems, delays and supply concerns to management in a timely manner.
19. Assists with new employee orientation.

Physical and Mental Requirements: Classified as heavy work by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles:
• Will exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 to 60 pounds of force frequently, and/or 25 to 35 pounds of force constantly in order to move objects.
• Frequently reaches overhead to pull or place supplies. May also need to climb on a step-stool to reach some items.
• Frequently bends and squats from an upright position to lower levels.
• Constantly reaches from side to side.
• Twists from the waist on a frequent basis.
• Ability to operate hand/arm controls in order to manipulate supplies and equipment.
• Ability to move rapidly to perform duties to prevent nurse and physician downtime (particularly during emergencies which may occur during tour of duty).
• Near-visual acuity necessary for deciphering fine print, viewing computer screen, and distinguishing sizes and shapes.
• Auditory acuity adequate for hearing normal voice tones when not facing the individual and/or when muffled through a face mask, telephone conversation, intercom, overhead pagers, fire alarms, etc.
• Ability to constantly anticipate and respond to changes in workload schedule/procedures and establish priorities accordingly.
• Lifts up to 45 pounds from waist level to floor and vice versa on a constant basis.
• Carries up to 35 pounds frequently for distances of up to 100 feet.
• Pushes/pulls up to 400 pounds frequently on wheeled carts during each shift in order to access and move/transport supplies and equipment.

• Ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology; simple arithmetic skills necessary in order to pick, receive and restock supplies.

Working Environment: Stands and walks constantly on tile, concrete and carpeted flooring. Walks throughout the entire hospital complex. Sits occasionally on hard or cushioned chair. Work is performed in a fast-paced, high demand, indoor environment; requires standing and walking for long periods of time without interuption; exposure to clean and sterile environments and patient care units. Work requires flexibility in scheduling.
Reporting Structure: Reports to Supply Distribution Manager. In his/her absence reports to the Vice President for Supply Chain.

Qualifications and Standards
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Must have at least one (1) or more years of verifiable material handling experience within the last five-year period that includes computerized inventory control methods and applications, and Low Unit of Measure (LUOM) distribution experience or at least (6) months of direct Healthcare Supply Chain experience. Familiarity with bar coding technology and handheld computer devices is preferred. Basic knowledge and understanding of personal computers, keyboarding skills, and common office application software, i.e.: Excel, Word, etc. is required.
