The Supply Chain Summer Hire applies their educational experience in a real world setting with Taco’s Supply Chain team. They work closely with purchasing, planning and operations. They communicate with suppliers regarding various topics from updating purchase order information to gathering requests for quotes and updating the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within supply chain and operations.

Measures of success:

  • Update purchase order information in a timely and accurate manner
  • Successfully use Epicor ERP for selected tasks in order to update information
  • Accurate presentation for management decision making on new sources of supply

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Communicates with suppliers via e-mail, telephone, or SourceDay system to receive and send information regarding purchase order updates for quantities, ship dates, due dates, etc.
  • Updates various fields in the Epicor ERP system to ensure dates, settings, etc., are accurate and maintained on a continuous basis.
  • Researches suppliers via the web, representative contacts, internal contacts, etc., in an effort to find dual source suppliers and / or identify new suppliers.
  • Gathers request for quote (RFQ) packages (i.e., prints, usage data, etc.) and sends to global suppliers as well as presents information via PowerPoint / Excel as received back.
  • Sends RFQ packages, including but not limited to non-disclosure agreement (NDA), supplier profile, supplier handbook, prints, usage data, etc., to various global suppliers.
  • Develops analytical models regarding purchasing and planning using Excel.
  • Works with purchasing, planning and operations to better optimize the ERP system, including areas of improvement around internal kanbans, planning horizon signals and purchasing horizon templates.
  • Presents to the operations leadership team regarding lessons learned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Junior or Senior enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Supply Chain or Operations
  • Intermediate-level expertise using Microsoft Excel (advanced proficiency a plus)
  • Familiarity with Power BI or equivalent
  • A team player with enthusiasm, positive outlook and professional demeanor who takes initiative and direction
  • Solid organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills

Work Environment

This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant and testing lab where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position reports into the site every day.

This position has no direct reports.
