The Supply Chain Operations Manager provides leadership for directing system Materials Management operations in order to optimize logistics functions, processes, and technology across the organization. This job is responsible for all Material Management operational functions, including internal distribution and delivery, warehousing, inventory and par management/replenishment with Central Supply and OR/ procedural areas, supply transportation, implementation of new products and product conversions. This job serves as a key promoter of the Supply Chain, which strives to meet and exceed the needs of its customers. This position works with clinical staff and physicians to ensure that all Materials Management operations address and improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, variation, quality, efficiency, and cost. This position also communicates with health system leadership regarding operational performance, develops improvement plans to support local needs and coordinates operational alignment with VCUHS’s strategic initiatives.

Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of five (5) years of previous medical receiving, storage, distribution and/or warehousing work experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of previous work experience in management position.
Previous work experience in a JIT inventory program.
Previous experience using a personal computer with Microsoft office applications and automated inventory/tracking system.
Experience PREFERRED:
Five (5) years of previous management/supervisory work experience.
Previous experience in development of annual budgets, forecasts, and other business related activities.
Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance or related field
Independent action(s) required:
Accountable for overseeing Materials Management operations – Central Supply (warehouse, distribution, replenishment, perpetual inventory), OR/ Procedural Areas Materials Management (distribution, replenishment, perpetual inventory) and Implants
Manages and coordinates all purchase requests for Surgical Services for submission to a centralized Purchasing Department.
Initiates surveys/evaluations to determine the feasibility of substituting supplies, equipment or materials to decrease costs without significantly affecting quality.
Forecasts and recommends adjustments in par levels to determine quantities, inventory and monies required to meet demands for Surgical Services.
Job duties may include the access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Responsible for the hiring, firing, evaluation and disciplinary actions for all Materials Management operations staff.
This includes scheduling workloads, providing continuing education to staff and working with customers to evaluate their requirements.
