The Supply Chain Operations Manager plans, directs, and oversees Student Delivery Services operations in support of the university community. This position is responsible for the operational performance, customer experience, workforce planning, compliance, and continuous improvement of a multi-campus service operation responsible for the secure and timely movement of student mail, packages, freight, and other inbound and outbound items.

The Manager provides leadership for Student Delivery Services by overseeing package management technologies, automated delivery solutions, receiving and distribution operations, staffing strategies, service delivery standards, and stakeholder partnerships. This role serves as the primary operational leader for Student Delivery Services and collaborates with university stakeholders, housing operations, campus partners, and Supply Chain leadership to ensure exceptional service delivery, operational efficiency, and student satisfaction.

The Manager exercises independent judgment and decision-making authority in the development and execution of operational strategies, workforce plans, service standards, process improvements, and performance initiatives. This position plays a critical role in supporting student success through reliable, customer-focused delivery services across the university.

Position Salary Range:

  • $52,000 - $60,000 annually; DOE

Essential Duties:

  • Plans, directs, and oversees Student Delivery Services operations across assigned campus locations, ensuring timely, accurate, and secure processing and distribution of student mail, packages, freight, and other inbound and outbound items.

  • Establishes operational goals, service standards, and performance expectations that align with departmental and university objectives.

  • Leads, develops, and manages supervisors, leads, full-time staff, student employees, and temporary personnel through coaching, performance management, professional development, and succession planning.

  • Develops workforce plans, staffing models, schedules, and labor strategies to support operational demand, peak service periods, academic calendar events, and university initiatives.

  • Oversees package management technologies, automated package delivery systems, operational software platforms, and related service technologies to ensure efficient and secure service delivery.

  • Monitors operational performance, service levels, package volumes, customer satisfaction, labor utilization, and operational efficiency metrics and implements corrective actions as necessary.

  • Establishes and maintains service standards for package processing, customer communications, issue resolution, package storage, and pickup operations.

  • Serves as the primary escalation point for complex customer concerns, service disruptions, operational issues, and stakeholder requests.

  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with Housing, University Business Services, academic units, administrative departments, vendors, and campus partners to support operational excellence and student success.

  • Manages departmental budgets, operational expenditures, contracts, vendor relationships, and service agreements to ensure responsible stewardship of university resources.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies, procedures, and best practices that promote consistency, efficiency, safety, and service quality.

  • Ensures compliance with university policies, regulatory requirements, risk management standards, shipping and receiving guidelines, and applicable operational procedures.

  • Leads operational planning and execution for high-volume periods, including student move-in, move-out, academic term transitions, holidays, campus events, and special projects.

  • Evaluates operational workflows and service delivery processes and implements continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, customer experience, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Utilizes operational data, trends, and performance metrics to support forecasting, resource planning, strategic decision-making, and long-term service planning.

  • Oversees inventory management, asset accountability, equipment utilization, and operational recordkeeping processes.

  • Coordinates business continuity planning and operational readiness efforts to ensure uninterrupted service during operational disruptions or periods of increased demand.

  • Represents Student Delivery Services and Supply Chain Operations on university committees, projects, and cross-functional initiatives.

  • Supports departmental strategic planning efforts and contributes to the development and execution of long-term operational goals and initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success leading logistics, delivery, fulfillment, mail, package management, warehouse, transportation, or customer service operations.

  • Experience managing multi-site or geographically distributed operations.

    Experience implementing process improvements, workflow redesigns, automation initiatives, or technology enhancements.

  • Experience with package management systems, logistics software, inventory management systems, or enterprise resource planning platforms.

  • Experience developing operational metrics, service level standards, and performance reporting.

  • Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and operational contracts.

  • Must possess a valid U.S driver’s license.

Working Environment:

  • Work is performed in a combination of office, warehouse, distribution, package processing, and campus environments.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Regular movement throughout operational facilities and campus locations is required.

  • Exposure to warehouse environments, outdoor weather conditions, vehicle traffic, and operational equipment.

  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and warehouse environments.

  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and support a fast-paced service environment.

  • Will be required to operate university vehicles or equipment for deliveries and material transport.

  • Hours may vary and occasional Saturdays could be necessary based on business needs.

  • Schedule flexibility may be required to support operational needs, peak service periods, and special events.
