Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Supply Chain Manager – Import & Export (Malaysia) to lead and manage end-to-end importation operations for shipments entering Malaysia. This role will be responsible for customs compliance, tax exemption management, shipment documentation verification, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring smooth cargo clearance and delivery operations.
The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Malaysia import/export regulations, customs processes, tax incentive frameworks, and cross-functional coordination with government agencies such as MDEC and MOF.
Key Responsibilities include:
Import & Export Operations
- Manage end-to-end importation processes for all inbound shipments into Malaysia, ensuring timely customs clearance and delivery.
- Oversee shipment planning, customs declaration readiness, cargo tracking, and escalation management.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, warehouses, and internal stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysia customs regulations, trade compliance requirements, and company policies.
Tax Exemption & Government Coordination
- Lead applications and management of tax exemption and BG programs related to importation activities.
- Coordinate closely with government agencies including:
- Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)
- Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)
- Ministry of Finance (MOF)
- Malaysian Customs Department
- Monitor validity, utilization, and renewal BG of tax exemption approvals and permits.
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and government reporting requirements.
Documentation & Compliance Management
- Verify and ensure accuracy of shipping and customs documentation, including:
- Commercial Invoice (CI)
- Packing List (PL)
- Air Waybill (AWB)
- Bill of Lading (BL)
- Import permits and exemption certificates
- Ensure HS code classification accuracy and customs valuation compliance.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to resolve documentation discrepancies before shipment arrival.
- Partner with IHSC, 3PL, warehouse, finance, legal, and compliance teams to support business operations and deployment schedules.
- Drive process optimization initiatives to improve import efficiency, reduce clearance lead time, and minimize operational risks.
- Establish SOPs, KPI tracking, and operational governance mechanisms.
- Support regional and global supply chain initiatives as required.
- Identify operational, customs, and compliance risks proactively and implement mitigation plans.
- Manage urgent shipment escalations and customs clearance issues to minimize business impact.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external logistics partners and government authorities.
