Your Role: Supply Chain Management Intern – Fort Dodge, Iowa (Summer 2027)

As a Summer 2027 Supply Chain Intern with Elanco Animal Health, you will be a key part of our Fort Dodge Manufacturing team. You will help ensure a continuous supply of our products by learning to balance production capacity, inventory targets, and customer demand. This role provides exposure to many aspects of the business, including production planning, logistics, quality management, and finance, offering a significant site-wide impact.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of weekly and monthly production schedules for assigned work-centers.
  • Learn to communicate with manufacturing management, floor personnel, and external partners regarding production issues affecting the schedule.
  • Support inventory analysis of distressed, obsolete, or rejected materials to help mitigate financial loss.
  • Gain an understanding of how to ensure raw materials and components are available and released before production orders are issued.
  • Learn the fundamentals of maintaining safety stock levels and MRP material master data within an ERP system like SAP.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to assist in the coordination of non-commercial demand (PD batches) and new product launches.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Top Skills: Experience in Microsoft Suites (especially Excel), excellent math skills, and a strong willingness to learn complex systems.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • A basic understanding of cGMP guidelines and manufacturing environments.
  • Must be able to work exceptionally well independently and as part of a team.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: 10% - to corporate facility in Indianapolis, IN for opening/closing
  • Location: Fort Dodge Manufacturing Plant, Fort Dodge, IA
