This role supports Solar Turbines’ Global Engine Overhaul business unit with new and remanufactured products and is based in DeSoto, Texas. (There is no relocation offered with this posting.)

This position requires global collaboration internally across the supply chain, material planning, operations, engineering, and the production workforce as well as externally to all relevant suppliers to ensure material support for Solar’s production demand. The position requires knowledge of ERP systems (BaaN 5C, ERP-LN), MS Excel, MS Power Point, Tableau, Production Processes, Lean Manufacturing and CPS Principles. Work is reviewed upon completion. Interface with internal, external suppliers and customers.

The position is responsible/accountable for:

  • Analyzing demand for assigned parts and ensuring a balanced level of supply to meet the demand.
  • Thorough communications with suppliers for follow up activities on all open orders, delivery performance, and capacity planning
  • Accurate, timely and proactive communication of material supply status to internal customer
  • Collaborating with business partners in Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to reduce disruptions to material flow and ensure material availability to support production requirements.
  • Proactively identify and communicate potential production disruptions, facilitate meeting(s) to develop recovery plan(s) and proactively communicate any potential customer impact.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing of inventory levels and turnover for assigned parts
  • Review, analyze, and disposition of excess, slow-moving or obsolete inventory for assigned parts
  • Item Data Maintenance
  • Participation in continuous improvement projects to improve material availability, reduce lead times and promote increased inventory turnover

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of Material and Production Planning fundamentals
  • Demonstrated computer skills using Microsoft Office 365 (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel including working knowledge of functions, formulas and pivot tables)
  • Two plus (2+) years of relevant supply chain/operations/planning or inventory analysis experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or associate degree in a related field or currently in a degree program.
  • APICS certification
  • Three plus (3+) years experience in production systems (BaaN, Excel, MS applications) or external ERP system equivalent.
  • Five plus (5+) years experience in a supply chain or manufacturing/remanufacturing environment along with two (2) years Solar Gas Turbine experience.
  • This position requires excellent communication (oral and written) to multiple levels within the organization and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer skills (2 years).
  • Solid product knowledge related to the business.
  • Lean Manufacturing training / certification.
  • A strong sense of integrity and the ability to execute with little direction
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new software, processes, and skills
  • Proven results from taking initiative to improve processes and drive results.
  • Work independently and contribute to team efforts.

Summary Pay Range:

$77,264.00 - $115,896.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
